Getting a hot and healthy breakfast is something many of us strive for. But our hectic weekday mornings can be tricky. Most the time it’s just easier to hit the drive-through on the way work or school.
If I told you that in less than seven minutes you can have a hot and healthy breakfast made at home, would you believe me? Probably not. Most people don’t think it can happen, but I am here to tell you that yes it can. These take just minutes to make, and you will feel good after eating this breakfast instead of that having that gross feeling from eating fast food. Well, I always feel gross afterwards.
With this recipe, your body will stay satisfied longer. It will help you and your kids better concentrate on the start of the day and avoid that mid-morning tummy rumble. Grab and go breakfasts for those busy mornings are great to have, but having it be healthy too is a huge WIN!
- 3 apples
- 1 cup quick cook oats
- 1 ¾ cups water
- 3 tablespoons raisins
- 1 ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- dash of salt
Pre-heat oven to 350˚F.
Using a sharp knife cut each apple in half. Using a spoon dig out the center on the apple, discarding the core but keeping the flesh on the apple. Place apples flat side down on a cookie sheet. Bake in oven for 3 minutes.
In a medium pot add 1 ¾ cup water. Bring to a boil. Once water is boiling add oatmeal. Stir. Reduce heat and cook for 1-2 minutes. Add in cinnamon, dash of salt, raisins, brown sugar and apples. Stir until welcome combined.
Turn the apples over and and fill with the oatmeal. Return to oven and bake for 2-3 minutes. Serve warm.
